Emma Smetana (CZ)
She grew up in France, studied journalism, starred in several films, and got a wider recognition for her appearance in television. At the same time, however, she has been playing piano and writing songs for nine years. Emma Smetana opened for Goran Bregovic and Zaz, and this spring she released her first album What I’ve Done in cooperation with her boyfriend Jordan Haj, a frontman of Peter Pan Complex, and also as with the producer Jiří Burian of the Republic of Two. Her Western European airy pop style with its light melancholy is often compared to Lana Del Rey and Adele, its echoes occasionally touches a swing or – when Emma switches from English to French – a chanson. If you like to demolish your prejudices, you will have plenty of opportunities when listening to her set on Kampa.
